You can obtain what you want only by applying your faculties to your work and your environment; you become able to apply your faculties successfully by acquiring Power-Consciousness; and you go forward by a concentration on today’s work, and by doing perfectly everything that can be done at the present time. You can get what you want in the future only by concentrating all your energies upon the constructive use of whatever you are in relation with today. Put LIFE into EVERY action. An indifferent or half-hearted use of the elements in today’s environment will be fatal to tomorrow’s attainment.
Your thought habits are subject to your control and self-discipline. They are the only circumstances of your life over which you have complete control. This privilege carries with it a heavy responsibility because it is the one privilege that determines, more than any other, the position in life you shall occupy. If this privilege is neglected by your failure to voluntarily form habits designed to lead to the attainment of definite ends, then the circumstances of life which are beyond your control will do the job for you, and what an extremely poor job it often becomes!
The Master Mind is consciously, deliberately, and voluntarily built up, cultivated, developed, and used; the ordinary mind, contrarily, is usually unconsciously built up, cultivated, and developed, without voluntary effort on its own part, but solely by the force and power of impressions from the outside world, and is usually employed and used with little or no conscious direction by its own will. In short, the ordinary mind is a mere creature of circumstances, driven hither and thither by the winds of outside forces, and lacking the guidance of the hand on the wheel, and being without the compass of Knowledge; while the Master Mind proceeds in the true course mapped out by Intelligence, and determined by will and steered by the Master-hand at the wheel, under the direction of the compass of Intelligence.
When the mind discovers that its powers are inexhaustible and that its faculties and talents can be developed to any degree imaginable, the fear of failure will entirely disappear. In its stead will come the conviction that man may attain anything or achieve anything. Whatever circumstances may be today, such a mind will know that all can be changed, that the limitations of the person can be made to pass away, and that the greater desires of the heart can be realized. That individual who knows his power does not judge according to appearances. He never permits himself to believe that this or that cannot be done. He knows that those things can be done, because he has discovered what really exists within him. He works in the conviction that he must, can and will succeed, because he has the power; and it is the truth – he does have the power – we all have the power.
“It’s time to decide. You can be a victim or you can be rich, but you can’t be both. Listen up! Every time, and I mean every time, you blame, justify, or complain, you are slitting your financial throat . . . It’s time to take back your power and acknowledge that you create everything that is in your life and everything that is not in it. Realize that you create your wealth, your non-wealth, and every level in between.” (T. Harv Eker) There has never been greater opportunity to achieve financial Success than there is right now! In times of turmoil, chaos and massive shifts of wealth, more – not less – opportunity is revealed. We create our own personal circumstances, and regardless of whether we label “times” as “good” or “bad,” guess what – either way, we are RIGHT. As Napoleon stated long ago, “Circumstances? To hell with circumstances. I make my own circumstances.”
Getting what you want is success, and success is an effect, coming from the application of a cause. The cause of success is some power within you; you have the power to develop any power to a limitless extent, for there is no end to mental growth. All you have to learn is what is the cause of success, and how it must be applied.
While we may not have the power or ability to control the external world and the people who live in it and what they may or may not do, we DO have the innate, God-given power and ability to control how we respond to life’s events, conditions and circumstances.
