Success Key: The Attitude of Gratitude

Did you know that living in a state of Gratitude can be one of the most powerful Keys to Success?  There is a Law of Gratitude, and it is absolutely necessary that you should observe the law, if you are to achieve the Success that you seek.  Giving thanks and maintaining an honest and sincere Attitude of Gratitude is a surefire way to turbo-charge your Success Path and achieve the Success you Desire.  Today's post in the SuccessManual Strategist is on one of the most powerful Success Keys: The Attitude of Gratitude.

Having just enjoyed a warm Thanksgiving holiday weekend with family and friends, it only seems fit to devote a little attention in this issue of the SuccessManual Strategist to one of the most powerful Success Keys: the “Attitude of Gratitude.”

In our drive to grow and achieve Success in any endeavor – to be, do and have more – being grateful for who we are, where we are at, and all other aspects of our lives, i.e., living in a state of gratitude, receives far too little attention.  We often tend to focus too much on our Success objectives, while taking too little time, as is often stated, to “stop and smell the flowers.”  Yes, we must never lose sight of our Success Goal; but we also must remember at all times what is really important and what this Life is all about.

Did you know that living in a state of Gratitude can be one of the most powerful Keys to Success?

It’s true.  First, on a fundamental level, not being grateful for what you already have creates a mindset of lack and limitation – an instant killer to your Success Strategies.  Please take note that this is different than the reverse side of this principle, called “discontent,” or more appropriately, “Divine Discontent.”  Not being content with your present circumstances, i.e., Divine Discontent (a good thing for your SuccessManual), is not the same as being ungrateful (not a good thing).  Do not confuse the two principles.  One may embrace, unconditionally, the Attitude of Gratitude while simultaneously living in a state of Divine Discontent.  Indeed, these two principles resonate.  They supplement each other to create a powerful Success drive.

There is a Law of Gratitude, and it is absolutely necessary that you should observe the law, if you are to get the results you seek. - Wallace D. Wattles, The Science of Getting Rich

Confused?  More on Divine Discontent in future posts.  For right now, simply look at it as living in a state of Growth: the seed is not content only being  a seed, the sprout is not content only being a sprout, the seedling is not content only being a seedling, the sapling is not content only being a sapling, the small, young tree is not content only being a small young tree, and so forth.  In each case, the life state of the tree is one of gratefulness for life, but the Divinity of the Universe is to bring forth Growth.  When we become merely “content,” we stop growing.  Well, if we don’t grow, we begin to die.  There is no in between.  Growth leads to Success.  There is no other way.  Think about that.  We must grow out of our present selves in order to achieve Success.

Second, and perhaps more practical, is that stopping to consider our “Gratitudes,” is an incredibly powerful mechanism of breaking through those periods where Success seems so elusive.  When doubt, worry and other negative emotions begin to take over and when “failure” (whatever that means) appears through our perception of the outer world to be our imminent result, taking the time to stop and reflect on what we should be grateful for is the most powerful weapon to break out and through such a negative state and pull us back on track.  God, the Creator, loves thankfulness and having an Attitude of Gratitude realigns our Spirit to do what God intends that we do: to Grow and achieve Success.

Notice the grateful attitude that Jesus took; how He always seems to be saying, "I thank Thee, Father, that Thou hearest me." You cannot exercise much power without gratitude; for it is gratitude that keeps you connected with Power. - Wallace D. Wattles, The Science of Getting Rich

The next time you feel really “stuck” in any endeavor, stop and find an hour to go off by yourself with a pen and your SuccessManual and begin writing your Gratitudes.  What are you truly grateful for?  Start with the fact that you are alive, because when your heart stops beating, that's it.  Look around you for the good in yourself, in everyone and everything, and be darn grateful for it.  For each one of us, no matter what our personal life events and circumstances may be, the fact is that there is enormous good – in fact, Greatness – all around us.  Giving thanks for that Greatness and maintaing an honest and sincere Attitude of Gratitude is a surefire way to turbo-charge your Success path and achieve the Success you desire.

Let’s end this SuccessStrategist Success Key with few excerpts from Chapter 7 of The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles, appropriately entitled “Gratitude.”  (Later today, we will be posting all of Chapter 7 within the SuccessStrategist and will make the entire ebook available for download for no cost.  Hey, be grateful for a free book!).

There is a Law of Gratitude, and it is absolutely necessary that you should observe the law, if you are to get the results you seek.

Notice the grateful attitude that Jesus took; how He always seems to be saying, "I thank Thee, Father, that Thou hearest me." You cannot exercise much power without gratitude; for it is gratitude that keeps you connected with Power.

Without gratitude you cannot long keep from dissatisfied thought regarding things as they are.

The moment you permit your mind to dwell with dissatisfaction upon things as they are, you begin to lose ground. You fix attention upon the common, the ordinary, the poor, and the squalid and mean; and your mind takes the form of these things.

To permit your mind to dwell upon the inferior is to become inferior and to surround yourself with inferior things.

On the other hand, to fix your attention on the best is to surround yourself with the best, and to become the best.

The grateful mind is constantly fixed upon the best; therefore it tends to become the best; it takes the form or character of the best, and will receive the best.
