Achieving Success One Thought at a Time!

Free Success Ebook: “What All the World’s A-Seeking” by Ralph Waldo Trine

Take, for example, the successful business man – for it is all one, the law is the same in all classes – the man who started with nothing except his own interior equipments.  He has made up his mind to one thing – success.  This is his ideal.  He thinks success; he sees success.  He refuses to see anything else.  He expects success; he thus attracts it to him; his thought-forces continually attract to him every agency that makes for success.  He has set up the current, so that every wind that blows brings him success.  He doesn’t expect failure, and so he doesn’t invite it.  He has no time, no energies, to waste in fears or forebodings.  He is dauntless, untiring, in his efforts. . . Yet, when we speak of man’s failing in business, little do we realize that the REAL failure came long before, and that the final crash is but the culmination, the outward visible manifestation, of the real failure that occurred within possibly long ago.  A man carries his success or his failure with him; it is not dependent upon outside conditions.

"He ain't heavy, he's my brother."

Chances are, you have heard that phrase before and may even know that it is the title of a song that was popular in 1969 and 1970.  Let's digress a bit.

According to Wikipedia, "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" was a popular music ballad written by Bobby Scott and Bob Russell. The earliest recording of the song was made by Neil Diamond for his 1970 album, Tap Root Manuscript. The 60's and 70's pop group, The Hollies, however, released their version in September 1969, about a year before Diamond's version was released as a single.

Interestingly, The Hollies' recording featured a young, but relatively unknown gentleman by the name of Elton John on piano.

The Lakes of the Clouds are situated on the ridge line of the Presidential Range and are fed exclusively by the blanket of clouds that typcially blow over the mountain tops. But, from where did Bobby Scott and Bob Russell arrive at the title and idea for the song? Let's take a brief walk back into time (all according to Wikipedia, of course - I don't know this stuff personally).

The first editor of Kiwanis Magazine, Roe Fulkerson, published a column in September 1924 carrying the title "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother."

However, the phrase - or one quite similar to it - is probably best known as being associated with Father Edward J. Flanagan, the founder of Boys Town.

Flanagan came across a line drawing of a young boy carrying his brother in the Christmas 1941 edition of the Louis Allis Messenger. The caption read "He ain't heavy Mister — he's m' brother!" It was created by Mr. Van B. Hooper who later became the editor of Ideals magazine. The drawing was reprinted in the first issue of Ideals in December 1944. Father Flanagan felt that the drawing illustrated the work done at Boys Town and received permission from the company in August 1943 to recreate the drawing in color with the caption "He ain't heavy, Father . . . he's m' brother."  The phrase became the motto of Boys Town.

However, the phrase has roots even further back than that.

In an 1918 publication by Ralph Waldo Trine titled "The Higher Powers of Mind and Spirit," he relates the following anecdote:  Do you know that incident in connection with the little Scottish girl? She was trudging along, carrying as best she could a boy younger, but it seemed almost as big as she herself, when one remarked to her how heavy he must be for her to carry, when instantly came the reply: "He's na heavy. He's mi brither."

And, there you go.

Now, why all of this?  Because today's edition to The Success Manual FREE Download Library is our second work by Mr. Trine - whose messages are as much Spiritual as they are Success (can you really separate the two, though?).  In addition to today's upload, our free library also includes for immediate download:

Character Building Through Thought Power by Ralph Waldo Trine (1900) Success Manual Strategist Edition 2010

And, we have another work by Trine already complete and slated for upload next week.  Will it be our 50th FREE Success Manual EBook?  Today's addition is number 49 and we are proud to have accomplished so much in such a short time (still less than one year being online!).

So, turn off the cell phone, uplug the television (better yet, throw it out the window), turn off the computer, open your mind, spirit and soul, and delve into a truly spiritually inspirational work!

Namaste, my friends - enjoy this beautiful, later summer weekend.

Until next time . . . .

Peace Out, and - Namasté!

To your Health, Wealth, Prosperity and Success,

The Success Manual Team
