Happy June, everyone! It is hard to imagine that the first five months of 2010 have already peeled away. It certainly gave me a new perspective on "Idealization" and the use of Desire.
"How to Turn Your Desires and Ideals Into Reality" by Brown Landone is the subject of today's Download Post. As the title implies, this relatively short - but punchy Success Manual - focuses on the process of "Idealization" and using the Power of Desire to energize the Ideal into reality. Since we have previously focused on the fundamental element of Desire in prior Posts, let's take a look at the process of Idealization and Ideals - concepts often neglected in many New Thought - and even modern - Success, personal development or self-improvement teachings.

What is an Ideal? Bob Proctor taught me that it is an Idea in which you fall in love - a "healthy obsession" so to speak. That is true, but I think that answer still begs the question - what really is an Ideal and what is and how does one engage in "Idealization?"
Brown Landone answers those questions in his book.
All Ideals are born as Ideas and we all have Ideas as we engage in the thought process - some more than others, obviously. But, Ideals are those Ideas that we transform, consciously or not, from mere thoughts to true objects of attainment.
Consider: A mother of several children sees an advertisement regarding a family fun pack vacation to Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida. The thought "hey, wouldn't that be a great family vacation" enters her mind. Now, if the whole notion of a Disneyworld vacation ends on that note, all that has taken place was a passing, fleeting thought. In fact, our mother may not even have been fully aware of the thought (consciously). But, suppose she grabs and holds onto the thought to further entertain the prospect of the vacation. Now, her mere thought(s) have become an Idea.
Whether or not the Idea will be further transformed into an Ideal will likely determine whether or not the Disneyworld family vacation actually materializes. The process by which the Idea becomes an Ideal is known as Idealization.
You may already be familiar with certain aspects of Idealization. For example, Visualization is part of the Idealization process. In our example, as the mother Idealizes her vacation Idea, she visualizes her children having tons 'o fun in Disneyworld, swimming in the hotel pool, taking the flight, etc. All sorts of mental images begin playing in her mind, and the stronger and more vivid the images (the visualizations), the greater the Ideal being created. She has control over the Idealization process.
Next enters a very, very powerful and key element: Emotion. As the mother continues to engage in vivid, powerful visualizations of the vacation in her mind, she will actually begin to FEEL excited about the vacation. Her visualizations are so powerful, those images evoke strong, positive emotions. There is resonance between thought and feeling, image and emotion. She begins to "vibrate" her Desire.
Emotion induces Action. Spurred by the emotional excitement that she now feels, the mother begins to take ACTION - another essential step in the Idealization process. She consults with her husband (and the father of the children) as to his thoughts on the Disneyworld vacation, she checks the family calendar for potential schedule conflicts, she jumps on her computer and logs-on to the website referenced in the advertisement and prints out relevant materials, she checks the family budget to confirm that the necessary funds will be available . . . and so on. During this time, her emotions grow even stronger, her visualizations continue with greater clarity, and she becomes even more excited.
This is all Idealization. The mom is engaging in a multi-faceted process that results in the transformation of an Idea into an Ideal - an Idea in which she has fallen in love! Her initial Idea (which started as a mere thought provoked by effective advertising) for a Disneyworld family vacation is now a healthy obsession, and through the Power of Desire (and, of course, further Action), she WILL attain her objective, her Success - the vacation.
In "How to Turn Your Desires and Ideals Into Reality," Brown Landone teaches HOW to Idealize - the actual, practical steps to transform Ideas into Ideals. Consider the following exerpts from the book:
First, an ideal to come true must be an ideal; an idea will not do. Second, an ideal to become a reality must have a heart of desire, – and a good strong heart. Third, an ideal to come into manifestation must be a body of real etheric substance. Fourth, an ideal to become an actuality must possess an impulse of action. Lacking any one or more of these, your ideals do not become realities.
And then there is:
No advance of mankind has ever been effectuated except if it was first formed by ideals of some kind. Those who think ideas never attain to greatness. Great men and women always think in ideals. Change your “ideas” to “ideals!” How? By making it a perfect image, adding desire, giving it body substance, and creating in it an irresistible impulse to manifest itself in action.
And then, finally, Brown makes the following notable distinction:
Wishes are but wishes; they lead only to wishing more wishes. Desires are heartbeats of soul; they demand and impel to action. A wish turns ever to itself, wishing that something will come to make itself true. A desire goes out from self; it daringly reaches out, demanding the thing desired, and divinely creates it in reality.
We really could go on regarding Idealization - it is that important. It is so beyond visualization - and much more powerful! Most likely we will run a Post or series of Posts in the future on the subject; I know firsthand that any Success that I have was when I made an Idea an Ideal. When you fall in love with the Ideal and REALLY Desire it, that is when it happens.
